2020-2021 Religious Education

Due to restrictions on use of the St. Mark school building, religious education classes will use a hybrid approach for this year’s religious formation classes.  All grades will meet in-person at church once a month, and will participate in online distance learning in between monthly meetings.  Classes will begin the week of November 2, 2020.

In-Person Meetings:

Grade 1 will meet on the first Monday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 2 will meet on the first Tuesday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 3 will meet on the first Wednesday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 4 will meet on the first Thursday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 5 will meet on the second Monday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 6 will meet on the second Tuesday of each month, 4:00-5:00pm.
Grade 7 will meet on the second Wednesday of each month, 6:00-7:00pm.
Grade 8 will meet on the second Thursday of each month, 6:00-7:00pm.

Online Distance Learning:

In order to facilitate online distance learning, the registration form includes fields for both students’ and parents’ email addresses.  This information will be used to create online accounts for students to log in and perform their learning, and for parents to log in and assist and monitor their child’s progress.  Additionally, email addresses and cell phone numbers will be added to Flocknote to allow the religious education team and church leadership to contact you as necessary.  It is more important than ever before that we be able to contact students and parents in a reliable, timely manner since we won’t see you every week!

Grades 1-7 will participate in distance learning using the Catholic Brain platform.  This system provides online login access for students and parents, where students will find a variety of instructional materials planned by their teacher.  These materials will include short videos, online and printable materials, and quizzes.  Teachers will monitor student progress and check in with families periodically to ensure there are no questions on the material.  Catholic Brain learning may be completed asynchronously at a day and time that is convenient for your family each week.

Grade 8 will continue to use the Chosen Confirmation-prep program from Ascension Press, which has been recently updated to provide online access for students and teachers.  On Thursdays where there is no in-person meeting, class will take place online 6:00-7:00pm via Microsoft Teams meeting.  Students will be able to log into these sessions via the Teams web app on their school-issued Chromebook devices, or using their family’s laptop or desktop PC or Mac.  Full details of the Teams login will be made available before classes begin.  Live videoconference meetings will allow for the interaction and tracking of progress that is critical to formation as we prepare for Confirmation.

Registration fees:

In Parish: $105 for one child, $185 for two and $240 for three or more.
Out of Parish: $155 for one child, $285 for two and $390 for three or more.
